If you are new client and you wish to make an appointment, you can send an email to info@karinafeldmannpsychology.com.au (please include name and contact details) or by submitting an enquiry through the booking page.

Your initial appointment will include a comprehensive assessment of 60 minutes duration. This will allow me to gather important information to determine your needs, your therapeutic goals and to develop an evidence-based treatment plan based on clinical best-practice guidelines
For children it is preferable that both parents attend the initial appointment without the child, where possible. This will allow parents and guardians to speak freely. Separate parent appointments can be arranged for separated families, if required. Teens and adolescents can attend the initial consultation with their parents or alone (if appropriate).
Subsequent therapy appointments will be discussed and booked in during the initial appointment.

All personal information discussed during sessions will remain strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to a third party without your permission, except in the following circumstances:
Written reports are required to be provided to the referring GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician on completion of the initial and subsequent course of treatment.
Information is subpoenaed by a Court.
A person discloses risk of significant harm to themselves or to others.
A psychologist is legally mandated to report risk of significant harm to a child or young person, according to child protection legislation.

Your next appointment will be confirmed when you attend your current appointment. A text reminder is sent out three business days prior to appointments. I will require at least 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment so I can offer any available appointments to clients on the waiting-list (if your appointment is on a Monday, please cancellations are required to be made on the Friday). A cancellation fee of the full consultation will be applied for cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours-notice, unless there are extenuating circumstances. You can cancel your appointment by sending an email to info@karinafeldmannpsychology.com.au (add "cancellation request" in the subject).

You do not need a referral to attend appointments. However, if you have a referral from your GP with a mental health care plan, or a referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, you can claim a Medicare rebate for your appointments. The current Medicare rebate for attendance at an appointment with a Generalist Psychologist (from 1st July 2022) is $93.63. This rebate can be claimed for up to ten appointments/sessions in a calendar year.
Medicare rebates can be claimed for 2 parent appointments; if there is need for more parent appointments, the parent can use their own referral and mental health care plan relevant to their child/adolescent’s presentation.
To access ongoing Medicare rebates, you will need to see your GP, Pediatrician or Psychiatrist for a review after your first six sessions. Your medical practitioner will be able complete a review for another four sessions.
Clients who see me under the NDIS do not need a Medicare referral. I am available for NDIS self-managed clients. If you are a plan-managed client you will be required to pay your fee upfront and then take the invoice to your plan manager to claim.

You may be able to claim a private health insurance rebate depending on the health insurance provider you are insured with, and your level of cover. Most private health funds cover psychology services under the “extras” category.
I recommend contacting your fund directly before your appointment to check if Psychology is included in your specific plan so you can understand the rebate level you can expect.
Medicare rebates and private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed for the same appointment.
